Sinopsis

The rapid expansion of data-driven technologies and digital platforms has profoundly reshaped economic organization, governance structures, and the exercise of individual rights on a global scale. As data becomes a central asset in contemporary societies, legal systems face the complex challenge of regulating innovation while safeguarding accountability, competition, and fundamental rights.

Law in the Data Age: Global Perspectives on Regulation, Governance and Innovation offers a rigorous and comparative examination of how law is adapting to this transformation. Bringing together distinguished scholars from different legal traditions, the volume combines conceptual analysis with selected case studies from Brazil, China, Turkey and European Union addressing key themes such as data governance, personal data protection, open finance, cloud computing, artificial intelligence regulation, and transnational resolution.

Rather than advancing a single regulatory model, the book highlights the diversity of institutional responses to digitalization, emphasizing the interaction between public and rivate governance mechanisms in shaping innovation, market structures, and the distribution economic value. By situating national experiences within a broader global context, the volume contributes to nuanced understanding of regulatory convergence and divergence in data economy.

Firmly aligned with the mission of the Law Schools Global League (LSGL), this volume represents a valuable contribution to globally engaged legal scholarships. It will be of interest to academics, policymakers, regulators, and legal practitioners seeking informed perspectives on the evolving legal order of the data age.
We sincerely hope that readers will engage critically with arguments presented, draw inspiration from the diversity perspectives, and find the book a valuable companion in navigating the complex legal landscape of the data age.
